An Asian Twist on Pizza
I have been experimenting with Pizza. The other day I was thinking about our yummy Christmas Eve Peking duck dinner with friends. We had duck 3 ways and it was all so good. A friend of mine taught me how to do some shopping at the Asian markets and since that time I have been back to buy BBQ soy chicken, bok-choy, pork dumplings, asian crepes etc. I have only thought of duck in this one dish we had wrapped in crepes and then a thought occurred to me. What would a BBQ duck pizza taste like? The more I thought about it, the more I came up with ideas to create what I consider the ultimate taste sensation. I think food is always a work in progress but this pizza was so delish, even my kids loved it. They didn’t even notice there were mushrooms in it. I also made a soy chicken pizza too but I will save that piece of brilliance for later. So here it is, BBQ Duck Pizza.

Pizza dough for one or two pizzas
- BBQ duck from an Asian grocer near you-ask them to chop it up for you and then cut up bite size pieces for the pizza.
- Hoisin sauce
- A bunch of Enoki mushrooms-cleaned and cut
- Green onion-chopped
- Mozzarella cheese
For the dip:
- Mayonnaise
- Sambal-Olek
Directions:
Preheat Oven to 400C. Shape pizza dough into two round pizzas or square or whatever! Cover the bottom with a nice layer of hoisin sauce. Cover the pizza with the duck (as much or as little as you like). Spread the enoki mushrooms all over the pizza (they act as such a moistening and flavorful addition), some green onion. Finally, sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
Bake in the oven at 400c for 20-25 min.
While the pizza is baking mix together a mixture (according to your personal taste) of mayo and sambal olek. This dipping sauce for the pizza is wonderful!
I am serious when I say this is truly delicious pizza!!

california pizza kitchen used to have this pizza (minus the enoki mushrooms and dipping sauce) on the menu. it was called peking duck pizza. to this day, i still wonder why they discontinued it. this pizza is incredibly delicious and satisfying! thanks for the post!
I am from Canada and I don’t think we have that chain here. I have not seen this type of pizza on any menus as of yet but I havent checked out all the places in Vancouver. If anyone knows of one let me know.
