Dribble Monster Cupcakes

My little cupcake queen has made yet again some delightful cupcakes.  I love these especially because they are easy to make with small kids and allows them to really get in there with their hands and creativity.  Again, the fun of these are the simplicity.  We are not talking about perfection but tasty and fun.  My daughter and her friend walked to the store and bought a boxed cake mix and a tub of white icing and some candy from our corner store.  She used food coloring (always buy the neon kind for the best colors) to make a few difference colors.

When I was a kid growing up in the Okanagan valley, we spent a lot of time at the beach.  We would make what we called ‘dribble castles’.  We did this by grabbing a handful of really wet sand and then is slowly, in a stream, pour onto the sand.  This created these remarkable squiggly mounds.  We would keep on adding to them until they were big and beautiful.  Claire and her buddy did something similar.  They warmed up the icing so that it would pour off a spoon and created these ‘squiggly mounds’ with the icing.  I think the candies on top were genius, they used toothpicks to fashion these and a little icing to keep the m&ms in place.

I loved taking these pictures of them because the colors and shapes were so beautiful and cheerful to me.

Get your kids together and make dribble monster cupcakes.  Tres fun!
