The Best Movie Soundtracks Since The Pandemic (2020-2023)

The Best Movie Soundtracks Since The Pandemic (2020-2023)

The pandemic changed the whole world, but the movie soundtracks are still delivering.

The past few years have seen a number of great movie soundtracks, from the nostalgic to the groundbreaking.

Here are a few of the best:

    Creed III (2023)

The track list of the soundtrack album for the boxing drama Creed III is stellar. The album features eighteen songs by Dreamville artists such as JID, Lute, Ari Lennox, Bas, EarthGang & J. Cole, as well as Big Sean, Morray, Baby Rose, Blxst, Kehlani & others.

    Soul (2020)

The jazz-infused soundtrack to this Pixar animated film is a joy to listen to, from the opening number “Another Day of Sun” to the closing credits track “Lift Off.”

Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever (2022)

Black Panther 2‘s soundtrack keeps with the first film’s use of traditional African music in bringing back Senegalese musician Baaba Maal, even bringing in artists from Mexico City as well to reflect the Mesoamerican culture of Talocan. While Wakanda Forever’s soundtrack features an impressive roster of talent, much of its power is due to the fact that each song and artist is serving the story and a purpose.

    Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

The adrenaline-pumping soundtrack to this long-awaited sequel features new songs by Lady Gaga and OneRepublic, as well as classic hits from the original film.

    Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)

From high-energy beats to slow, methodical rhythms, the songs on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse‘s soundtrack succeed in fitting in perfectly on-screen while also standing on their own as fantastic single tracks.  Whether it’s to relive the movie’s best moments or enjoy the tracks that are simply inspired by the movie instead of included in it, Metro Boomin’s Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse soundtrack is well worth repeated listens.

The Power of the Dog (2021)

The haunting score to this Western by Jonny Greenwood is a slow-burning masterpiece that perfectly captures the film’s atmosphere of tension and dread.

Judas and the Black Messiah (2021)

The soundtrack to this powerful film about the Black Panther Party features a mix of classic soul and funk tracks, as well as original songs by artists like H.E.R. and Thundercat.

The past few years have been a great time for movie soundtracks, with a wide variety of genres and styles represented. Whether you’re looking for something to get you pumped up, to make you cry, or to just chill out to, there’s sure to be a soundtrack out there that’s perfect for you.
